FAQ

01What kind of locations do you work in?
Anywhere from dispersed campsites and forests to cabins, churches, and other unconventional indoor spaces. If it's got character, it's worth considering.
02Do you only record outdoors?
No — while off-grid, in-nature recording is the specialty, Ben is equally happy working indoors in unique spaces.
03How many musicians/instruments can you record at once?
Up to 20 channels simultaneously, so a full band can be tracked live together.
04What happens if you run out of power mid-session?
The rig runs on battery for over two full days of full-band tracking before needing a recharge. Solar is being explored for future sessions.
05How much does a session cost?
Pricing is scoped per project, based on factors like distance to location, permitting needs, and accommodations.
06Do you travel outside of Seattle?
Yes — based in Seattle but happy to travel; get in touch with project details for a quote.
07What gear do you use?
A collection of high-end preamps, analog processing, retro fx units, and a mix of modern and vintage microphones.
08How do you minimize impact on the location?
A core part of the philosophy is working in a way that's non-disruptive to the natural surroundings. A guitar amp, drums, etc. is actually quite a bit quieter than many motorized vehicles in an outdoor setting. I strictly observe camping regulations and "Leave No Trace".
09Do you do studio sessions too?
Absolutely! I love working in conventional studios also!
